TO SUPPORT LOCAL ALZHEIMERS RESEARCH

Tennis personality and ESPN analyst Luke Jensen will be on hand May 17 for "Serving up Prevention," a tennis event and auction to support the Garrison Institute on Aging Research Division. Festivities will take place at LakeRidge Country Club, 8802 Vicksburg, and will feature entertainment and activities for the whole family.

The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a free tennis zone for all ages and levels featuring music, contests and prizes. The tennis zone is hosted by the South Plains Tennis Association.

An adult tennis clinic will follow at noon led by Luke Jensen, tennis pro Ben Stewart and other members of the tennis community who will provide hands-on guidance for players of all levels. Jensen, a French Open doubles champion, is known as Dual Hand Luke for his ability to serve with either hand.

Exhibition matches featuring Jensen and select local tennis players will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a live and silent auction at 4 p.m. Auction items include round-trip tickets to anywhere provided by Southwest Airlines, stays at the Horseshoe Bay Resort and Bally's Las Vegas, tickets to Disneyland, antiques, autographed Texas Tech memorabilia including a Mike Leach autographed football and much more.

Participants may purchase a VIP all-day pass for $60, which includes the adult clinic, exhibition matches and auction. Individual costs are $20 for the adult clinic, $20 for the exhibition matches and $30 for the auction, which includes hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are available at Select-a-Seat locations, online at www.selectaseatlubbock.com or by calling (806) 770-2000. Tickets also will be available at the door the day of the event.
