Different Types of Glaucoma

Different types of glaucoma include:

open-angle glaucoma (also called chronic glaucoma)
angle closure glaucoma (also called closed angle glaucoma)
low tension glaucoma
normal tension glaucoma
congenital glaucoma
secondary glaucoma
pigmentary glaucoma
neovascular glaucoma

Risks and Factors:

The causes of glaucoma are still being researched. Studies have found that some factors increase the risk of developing glaucoma. Look below for further facts:

African Americans age 40 or over
Diabetic patients
Mexican Americans over the age of 60
anyone else over that age of 60
genetic factors

Glaucoma Risks:

high eye pressure
thinness of the cornea
abnormal optic nerve anatomy
