What is hemodialysis?Hemodialysis is dialysis of the blood, esp. with an artificial kidney, for the removal of waste products. Minor surgery is involved. What is peritoneal dialysis and how does it work?The removal of soluble substances and water from the body by transfer across the peritoneum, utilizing a solution which is intermittently introduced into and removed from the peritoneal cavity (which lines the abdominal cavity). There are advantages and disadvantages with peritoneal dialysis. Some advantages are:
