Desiree Walisky

Desiree Walisky attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. Upon graduation, she worked as a case manager for the Department of Human Services in Otero County, Colorado. Ms. Walisky began graduate school in 2009 and obtained a Master of Social Work degree with honors from Syracuse University in New York. Since graduating with an MSW, Ms. Waliksy has worked as a clinician for several community agencies and hospitals in Syracuse, NY and Lubbock, TX.

Ms. Walisky’s specialty are in the following areas:

  • Trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) under supervision of Dr. Michael Gomez
  • Trained in Evidence Based Assessment of Traumatized Children
  • Trained in Treatment of Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSBs) under supervision of Dr. Michael Gomez
  • Trained in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Trained, and on-going training, in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Trained in Parent Management Training (PMT) protocols (e.g., Russell Barkley’s Defiant Child and Defiant Teen models)
  • Trained in Motivational Interviewing
  • Ms. Walisky is completing her doctoral work under Dr. Todd Little, Director of the Institute for Measurement, Methodology, Analysis, and Policy (IMMAP). Dr. Little is an Internationally recognized authority on methodology and statistics and is formerly of the Max Planck Institute in Munich.

These areas are NOT typically expertise areas of LCSW’s in the United States and Ms. Walisky’s expertise far exceeds those of other LCSW’s not only in Texas but in the United States.
