Kirby WoodKirby Wood is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a full time clinician at the Center for Superheroes. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education. Ms. Wood has extensive experience in the treatment of trauma. She has previously served as the Director of Treatment for a Residential Treatment Center for children that are in the foster care system due to severe physical or sexual abuse. She has a background in the areas of providing intensive therapy for children and adolescents that are diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, oversight of Quality Assurance and performance measures, and Case Management. She has also worked as a Child Advocate and Therapist at a local domestic violence women’s shelter in Lubbock, Texas.

  • Trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) under supervision of Dr. Michael Gomez
  • Trained in Evidence Based Assessment of Traumatized Children
  • On-going training in the Treatment of Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSBs) under the supervision of Dr. Michael Gomez
  • Trained in Parent Management Training (PMT) protocols (e.g., Russell Barkley’s Defiant Child and Defiant Teen models)
