Texas Tech Physicians of the Permian Basin

Funded by a federal grant, the Texas Tech Physicians Pediatric Clinic has started something very novel and for the first time in the Permian Basin, an asthma awareness program. This program was initiated in April 2014 and introduced the concept of asthma control to many of our young asthmatics.

Services

• Teach the patient and their family
• Arrange for rescue refills
• Create an action plan
• Make necessary follow up appointments
• Change medications as needed based on asthma severity
• Conduct regular pulmonary function testing
• Communicate with the school district to manage patient’s asthma as a multi-disciplinary team
